About the speaker: Joseph Backholm has served as the executive director of the Family Policy Institute of Washington (FPIW) and FPIW Action since 2008. FPIW coordinates with 38 other family policy councils who advocate for families FPIW advocates on behalf of marriage, life, religious freedom, and parental rights. As director of FPIW, Joseph manages the educational, legislative, and electoral operations for FPIW. He is a frequent guest on state and national media outlets speaking on issues related to marriage, life, religious freedom, parental rights, and citizenship. Prior to joining FPIW he spent three years as Staff Counsel in the Washington State Senate. Born and raised in Aberdeen, Washington, Joseph attended the University of Washington where he majored in Sociology and the Seattle University School of Law. He and his wife Brook, live with their four children in Bothell, WA.
